Design Rationale

Design & Concept Rationale

I re-imagined how a professional cordless screwdriver could serve better in real-world, demanding environments. Leveraging existing components from the Fiskars Pro line, the project focuses on three pillars: portability, durability and intuitive usability.

Durability

Built to last – not replace

Portability

Always by your side

Usability

Works the way you do

Durability

Professionals expect tools that last — not just for weeks but years. The rugged housing, reinforced materials and smart battery-swap system are engineered for longevity and uninterrupted workflow.

Portability

Many professional tasks require moving fast, changing locations, climbing ladders, working overhead — the tool needs to follow. The compact footprint and integrated carry/hang strap system ensures the Pro Mini is always within reach.

Usability

Torque adjustment, direction change, bit replacement — these actions happen hundreds of times a day. The Pro Mini puts every control exactly where it needs to be, reducing friction and cognitive load across repetitive tasks.

Concept

Key Features & Benefits

The primary user for the Pro Mini is the working tradesperson, technician or field engineer who moves fast, works across varied environments and demands a tool with portability without sacrificing performance. Whether installing cabinetry in a tight space, wiring control panels at height, or doing repeated fixings during an installation call-out — this tool is built to follow the workflow, not slow it down.

Refining Through Prototyping

Rapid mockups, 3D prints, and taped-together internals helped evaluate what CAD can't:

Grip. Reach. Balance. Movement.
